Butdoisay HardTalk- “Kenya Is Not Ready For Democracy”

Posted on January 29, 2008. Filed under: Butdoisay TRUE STORIES |

As the situation in Kenya continues to deteriorate and the politicians and the goverment is doing nothing, dont Kenyans wish President Moi was in power. Moi is believed to have been corrupt and a dictator that ruled Kenya for over 20 years, but during his time Kenya never experienced what they are experiencing right now, passengers being pulled out of the Matatus and stoned or cut to death, houses being burned, the police shooting randomly to the public and so on.

In Moi`s time, there was no joke, you create havoc or incite people you go in jail irrespective of who you are, an MP or influantion, Kenya is not ready for democracy and it will never be, no matter who rules, Kenya needs a dictator like Moi who can sit on their laps and control them.

Do you know why we have all these chaos in Kenya right now, its because of just a little taste of Democracy that has been given to us, you can cough blood with viruses without blocking your mouth, you can spit vernom without wiping it out, you can burn your neighbour whom you hate and nothing happens to you, the police can just walk beside the rowdy youth that is cutting peoples throats and nothing happens to them, you can rape in a broad day life and no one intervenes…….democracy indeed, is this the democracy you have been crying for?

The politicians have been urged to talk to their people to stop the clashes amongst other tribes, but since dec 27 not a single MP has taken that step, and now,  it seems as if the tables are turning against them, they are the target of assassination. Now that they are the target, count on  me, they will wake up and start talking, but when Kenyans were killing themselves, it was business as usual…none of their business, read my lips, they will start talking to their people since they are the target right now, they have their big salaries to get every month, and they do not want to loose that….

I remember Moi said, Kenya is not ready for multi party, was he not very right and isnt this the aftermath of a multiparty and democracy?

Democracy is for the educated people and not for the educated “FOOLS”, if you have observed, democratic countries have better ways of solving their  problems, either by stepping down, going to court and or by following  their constitution. This is the time Moi should be given a chance to rule Kenya for some few months and discipline its rowdy citizens, Mps and maybe advice Kibaki on how to handle the situation that we are now in….Kenya is not ready for Democracy..You wait and see!!!!…..butdoisay..

Mr. Butdoisay!
I am sure Kenya and kenya are ready for good life! Democracy is where majority rules, but in a situation where the minority dictates then you create a situation like what we have in Kneya.
It is the lack of moral obligation, philosophy of good REASON and brotherhood which makes Kenyan politicians greedy.
Imagine, Odinga and his lot of ODM accepted the job to join Kibaki in his perceived fake house! Imagine Odinga accepted the job as an MP in a house he even does not recognize the president? I lost trust on Odinga the same day he said YES to the job. Although I was happy when Ole Kaparo lost the Speakers seat, and I also congratulated the successor, I am utterly dismayed that ODM and it’s allies could not boycott the house as a sign of good leadership and democracy. In a democratic world, you don’t join a corrrupt rigged government and accept to be employed and earn salary! You all become corrupt, non democratic and loose people’s trust.
I don’t trust on the political system of Kenya,
but, neither do I wish that we were a one party state.

Clay Clay Clay, breathe easy, open up your window and take in some fresh winter air,our country was a time bomb waiting to happen. it was gonna blow up sooner or later, whether Moi threw people in jail or not. Our leaders never solved past issues & problems, they prefered to shelve them under ‘commissions of inquiries’ and further created commissions of inquiries to inquire about the last ones.
The offer of Majimbo was put on the table last year and we quickly dismissed it, tell me dear, don’t you think Europe and EU is kind of a Majimbo thing whereby, all countries compete & cooperate,do business together to prosper together? I think majimbo can really help us even though it’s a bitter pill to swallow, for a start no tribes will feel marginalised and no one will be more superior unlike todays kenya.
As for democracy, personally i think that is just something for empty debes who havent looked at the other options to try and understand what would best suit us,Just because the grass is greener on your neighbours side doesn’t mean the same fertilizer he’s using will help your grass the same way.
I prefer maxism and my reason is we will all work hard to build the govt and the country together,no one will be richer than the other, then and only then will we be equal, i dont see how me and raila or karume can be equal and sit on the same table under the current status, and then say democracy is the best option. voting once every 5 years and claiming that to be Democracy is just comical.

Baba Nani! I am getting interested! Please elaborate on this phrase You wrote in your last comment to

I like the way you administer first Aid to my brother Clay! I see how much he’s been strungled by the unbearable political chaos in our country. It’s strungling m
e as well.
You also mention m´Majimbo, I think we should call it Feralism/Evolution to avoid term Majimbo. I believe in Federalism as the savior of our Nation. I also believe that
we can reach an equilibrium point where we all work an produce, with equal opportunities to influence our lives. We all get what we are constitutionally entit
tled to even if we don’t afford it.The rich must accomodate the poor and vise verse. The Odingas and Kibakis must come down to earth and cooperate with the Ole Ngais and the Baba nanii’s including even the Notorious BUDOISAY!!
I have alot of Kikuyu brothers sometimes we believe in different ideas but that does not make us enemies.
. Another brother mentioned, talking to each other as a way of reconcilliation, yes, it is true, it works.
If we are honest and open to critics. thro’ DIALOGUE.
Whatdoyousay?
Maasaiwarrior.

The freedom of expression that has been enjoyed has come with no responsibility at all. Killings of any group is bound to bring revenge attacks, and an evil loop is set in motion. The Kenyan media has come to entertain politician’s words with no self examination regarding the consequences. They merely report what the politician says, and run to the opposing side for some new words. If the politician doesn’t respond/responds, then the other politician was talking the truth, with his/her mates cheering/jeering him/her on like a prize fighter, with the press reporting that, and so on… @Baba Nanii, could you please explain how majimbo could have solved issues in a Kenyan context? If you were to ask me, it was merely used as a voting stunt due to the emotions involved with the word. In a class society, excuses are plenty especially in a society like the Kenyan one, but i really don’t get your argument on Marxism as a viable alternative. And i quote “I prefer maxism and my reason is we will all work hard to build the govt and the country together,no one will be richer than the other, then and only then will we be equal”. How the hell will that apply practically? Everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion, just don’t be ridiculous. Where is the motivation? Any viable system must include rewards and equality of opportunities. We are not hunter-gatherers no more.

Baba nani,my window is wide open, trying to breath in the fresh winter air you mentioned, but I am only
breathing the smell of our burnt remains of our brothers and sisters back home, I try to watch my big screen, but
its no big screen no more coz my eyes have another screen, brought about by the media of a 3 year old girl
crying on an old broken chair while the mother is lying in a pool of blood dead, killed by her neighbours, am try
to sleep but all I see is baba nani coming to attack me with matchets…and how do you expect me to sleep and breath in
the fresh winter air???

I am equally disturbed. But regarding Broother Baba nanii understanding of Marxism” There is no one time in the whole universe where all human beings will ever be equal! Marx in my interpretation was basing his argument on a society where all has equal opportunity to influence their lives! All shall have equal basic standard of living, then all must work, produce and those who cannot work because of illness or other hinders they are entittled to
all what they must have according to basic living standard.
All can have equal basic salarry but if you produce more thean the rest, the offcourse you get motivated
thro’ extra bonus, high salary, or what Kenyan Parliament/government calls”……”
Women must be paid equal basic salary as men when doing same job. Black, whites, yellow, hispanish, and all men and women including children are born equal. Why this systematic institutionalized discrimination in
Kenya? This is the truth that is coming to the s open. People of Kenya has been discriminated since the
colonial era. The last regimes nevr took time to create balance btwn tribes. They simply continued the same dive and rule system by giving one tribe more
opportunities at the expence of the other one.
Untill Odinga and Kibakis agree to see the truth, and create a foundation for a balanced society, belief me, there will never be peace in Kenya. This is a sad reality but to protect the coming generation, we are forcedto speak out reality and truth.
And so help as God.
BUTDOISAY? The scatch card MESSENGER is actually good! I call home almost every day! Messenger costs 100 and you get 120 miniutes calling mobile line.

NOTE! I still wander if it was democratically correct for ODM and allies to accept the job and join Kibaki in the house on the hill? If Odinga boycotted the house, do you think Kibaki would have thought of power sharing directly
and prevent deaths of 1000 innocent Kenyans?

Jeuri, i will attempt to answer your query on Majimboism even though you specifically asked Baba Nanii. Majimboism is the devolution/decentralization of power. Constitutional power of the State is increasingly given to the Provinces (Jimbos) Take the US for instance,(this purely an example) we have Senators who handle the Legislative issues and we have Governors who handle budgets. What is happening in Kenya now is that the central government has all the say on who gets what e.g budgetary allocations which, if you take a critical look around Kenya, you will agree with me that economic and political devolution ought to be given a chance.
Now, during the countdown to the campaign, the meaning of Majimboism was thoroughly distorted to suit one political party. Of course the Majimboism appealed to quite a few Kenyans but it was wrong for one party to imply that Majimboism would mean to evict people from their lands and that you would require passports to visit other Jimbos. Whilst I agree that we have had land issues for a while now, the two issues are totally different. We have always had problems in the Rift Valley virtually during every elections except in 2002.
I strongly condemn the violence that has engulfed our nation and I believe no one has a right to take the life of another. We all ought to be ashamed of ourselves. We must agree and disagree maturely otherwise we may not be ready for democracy and the responsibility that comes with it. My boss once told me that maybe we sent away the white man too early.

Cindy
London

Hi Cyndi, I agree with your boss, we sent away the white man too early….

Thank you Cindy for elaborating my point further to Jeuri, as for Clay i promise i won’t kill you but i’ll do my best to kill you with laughter coz we know laughter is the best medicine.@Maasai warrior, you basically hit the point on the head with your answer on marxism, so do you still prefer that we stick to our democracy or isn’t marxism better suited for us?
When we are done butchering each other(and i hope soon) you guyz will notice that all the communities will come to the table with an open mind since we will have created respect among’st each other i.e the taller trees will have been levelled to the others.
For those who fear majimbo and think kibaki did a lovely job improving the economy ask anyone in kenya why for the better part of last year you could not rent a car from nairobi if you were travelling to western province???????
Meanwhile in nyeri you could put your car on cruise control when travelling to Nyeri and even take a nap!!!!!!!!!

Amidst all these remember fellow Kenyans, Jesus Loves You.

Please NOTORIOUS BUTDOISAY, put this comments in the place of the last respectivelly.

from my point of view its all about the rich and the poor whereby as usual the rich create a crisis to maintain the vicious cycle of master versus subject,an the later are always ready to sacrifice their lives to maintain the statusquo of the same system which oppresses them

I think people are forgetting the root cause of all the violence that has rocked our beloved country and what has triggered it. Has people seen justice in our country? Has the truth come out? Kibaki had the chance to it with or without Raila but did he. Inquiry after inquiry and no Results. Why has the “government” banned all rallies in the country, how is Raila supposed to meet the people that who everyone wants him to calm down.Freedom of Assembly, WHERE? I think that the ball is in Kibakis gamecourt right now.
