Breaking News:A Kenyan Diplomat Held In London…

Posted on January 9, 2009. Filed under: 1 |

We have just received some news from a reliable source in London that a Kenyan diplomat is being held  in London after entering London from Kenya. Its believed that the diplomat had just accomplished his term as a diplomat and had sent his whole  container home and after clearing it, he decided to go back to London to start a new living.

The source mentioned that the Kenyan foreign affairs has written to all countries, that  Kenyan diplomats should not be allowed to settle in respective countries  after their term, and its believed this is the reason the diplomat was apprehended.

Kenyan diplomats have recently refused to go back home after their term,an example is the Ambassador in Washington and The Ambassador in France.

Is life in diaspora sweeter that Kenya or its due to the lack of  security in Kenya?

We will keep you informed as to what will happen to the diplomat if we hear, but we would also appreciate any new information about the case.

Discuss:Should the diplomats be deported to Kenya  or should they stay abroad?

The Principal Counsel at the Kenya High Commission in London, recently retired from his position as Deputy High Commissioner was on Friday night put on a plane back to Nairobi after arriving back from a Christmas break at home. Knowledgeable Government sources revealed to KLN that Dr. Abel Kenyoru, who had officially retired at the end of October last year was still holding Office at Portland Place before visiting Kenya after Christmas. He was returning to the UK to sort out his matters before taking up his new role outside the Diplomatic Sector. The source told KLN that Dr. Kenyoru’s Diplomatic status had been revoked on the advice of the Kenya Government. His successor, a Mr. Addison Chebukaka who has been in the UK since October but had yet to take up office, assumed duties on Monday 5th January 2009. Meanwhile Dr. Kenyoru arrived in Nairobi on Saturday morning breathing fire. He told our source that he feels the treatment he has received is not justified and intends to make an official complaint. There is a likelihood he may call a press conference to air his views. It is still unclear why the former Deputy High Commissioner was treated that way, as it was expected he would be allowed a grace period to sort out his stuff. Dr. Kenyoru has family with children in school here in the UK. – KLN News

What really happened is this: Dr Kenyoru’s contract actually expired on the 31st of December 2008. Under normal circumstances, after ones term a diplomat is normally given a grace period of minimum 3 months upto a maximum of 9 months to organize himself and family. So i feel the diplomat was unfairly treated and their is loads of propaganda at MFA.
