Is Funeral Fundraising a Tribal Warfare?

Posted on October 7, 2007. Filed under: Butdoisay TRUE STORIES |

Dear readers allow me to touch this issue that is facing us in diaspora. By asking if a funeral fundraising is a tribal warfare, I mean that I have seen people loosing their parents or relatives, and if you have observed keenly, the turn up is always tribally biased. If its a Kikuyu relative that has passed away you would see many Kikuyus attending the fundraising to support the bereaved family and if its a Luo, you would see luos attending in large numbers to support the bereaved.

So what would a masaai or a Kamba do since they do not have a large population in Diaspora?

Kenyans in diaspora should put aside this tribal warfares and engage in helping one another as Kenyans.Like in Lucys case, the poor girl has a bill of about 600,000 Kes, she has only been here for less than 3 years, she had just started to plan her life and help her relatives back home, are we just going to overlook her situation and proceed with our life? I do not think so, lets show some solidarity and prove that we exist even though we are in a difficult situation ourselves.

Lets consider her as tribeless and consider her as a Kenyan and do our thing……lets put this fundraising tribal warefare aside……..butdoisay….

Well said clay, we should do something about this tribal thing, it’s becoming too much!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has attending fundraisings become a right owed to fellow Kenyans? Tread carefully. Attendance is often based on know to know basis. Tribal warfare has nothing to do with anything. Don’t go making a mountain out of an anthill.
